How Should a Muslim Woman Dress?

Can you help me please? I am a new Muslimah and confused by the debate of some sisters about what is permissible to wear. Hijab is not at issue. They quote from the Quran chapter al-Ahzab, verse number 59 and say an over-garment is necessary. Some say you must wear an Arabian style jilbab! Yet, I see many Muslim women around the world dressed in different styles. Some sisters will say it is OK to wear anything that is loose and covers. Others go so far as to say that if modesty is in your heart, it does not matter what you wear! I was wondering how Muslim women have dressed over the centuries and especially during the period that the Quran was being revealed? I want to obey Allah, so I need to understand. Any comments would be helpful.
